Still Going "Strong" With Diabetes Maintenance?

Saturday, June 9, 2007

A few weeks ago, I began to run again.  Yes, I actually got outside and ran.  I first walked with a little running, then by the end of the second week I was running more than a mile and walking the other on half.  The I got sick about a week and a half ago and that was it. I stopped running. First because I was just too sick to run, and since then, I have not had the energy to run.

For some reason I am just tired -- way too tired.  I know that I am busy at work, and my websites are taking a lot of time these days, but that is nothing new.  I am tired, just as I was before I was diagnosed with Diabetes.  However, my blood sugar levels have been okay.  Not great, but okay.  My fast this morning was a 90 -- which is higher than when I was really gung-ho about all this, but still not to bad.

With the one year anniversary of being diagnosed, maybe I will begin to step it up again.  My dieting has been good (not great), but I am keeping my blood sugar levels down.  However, I should run and work out more.  I need to burn off the excess sugar instead of letting it just sit around in my body killing my internal organs.

The fear of going blind or losing a limb is still real, but not as much of a factor as it had been a year ago.

I'll keep you up on my progress.  It looks like this blog turned from daily to weekly to monthly. Well I guess monthly is better than not at all.

Also, if anyone out there has any diabetes news they would like to share with me, please email it to me at info@ihavediabetes.net and I will post it when I get a chance.

Thanks and burn that sugar . . .
