Everyone Is Asking For My Diet
Thursday, September 21, 2006
Interesting enough, I have had three different people ask me about my diet over the last two days. I guess what I have been doing is showing. I do let them know that I have been diagnosed with diabetes, then I tell them that the diet I am on is really a healthy diet and they could follow a similar diet from the American Heart Association.
I could do an advertisement: "If you want to lose 40 pounds in three months, follow the substitution diet recommended by the ADA and AHA - that and exercise will melt off the pounds. Follow my dieting ups and downs at IHaveDiabetes.net. Of course all of this is yourse for the low, low price of nothing - it is all free!"
What it really all comes down to is that if you limit the amount of calories you take in and those that you do put in your body are not all bad for you, with a bunch of exercise, you will lose weight - period. No matter what diet I have ever been on throughout my lifetime, if I ate less and exercised, I lost weight.
An easy concept, but without the right motivation, it means absolutely nothing. I have lost before, but always gained it back. Losing weight is not easy, but keeping it off is even harder. If you have diabetes - that should be your motivation. If you are overweight with a history of diabetes in your family - you have even more of a motivation not to get this blasted disease.
